Or maybe she’s afraid of being seen fraternizing with right wing extremists like Joe Scarborough. After all, one can never be too careful, and besides, one never knows when Barack will throw you under the bus.
From Anne Schroeder at Politico:
The GOPers – by that we mean Rep. Eric Cantor’s office – are pouncing on an interview today on "Morning Joe" with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, under this subject line: "Administration Permits Only One Question, No Follow-Ups About Extremism Report."
Today the Secretary went on Morning Joe but they were only allowed to ask one question.

Here is Napolitano’s non-apology apology for the much-criticized DHS report, which include un-reassuring statements Like this:
Let me be very clear: we monitor the risks of violent extremism taking root here in the United States. We don’t have the luxury of focusing our efforts on one group; we must protect the country from terrorism whether foreign or homegrown, and regardless of the ideology that motivates its violence.
Huh? What does that mean? If they had the resources they would only focus on one group, but since they don’t have that “luxury” to do that they’re going to focus on everybody with a heartbeat?
We are on the lookout for criminal and terrorist activity but we do not – nor will we ever – monitor ideology or political beliefs. We take seriously our responsibility to protect the civil rights and liberties of the American people, including subjecting our activities to rigorous oversight from numerous internal and external sources.
Riight. That’s like totally believable.
Ed Morrissey writes about Janet’s time on Fox & Friends here (which he also characterizes as a “non apology apology”) detailing an “egg on her face moment”.
